Interview with Thierry
3 words that define you as an athlete?
Passionate. Accurate. Challenger.
3 values that fit you as a person?
Determination, patience, humility
Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?
The Cimalp range corresponds perfectly to my needs in the mountains, desert and polar regions. The technicality and the state of mind of the teams help me to finalize my very technical projects where the smallest details are important.
Your best and worst mountain memories and why?
My best memory is my first victory on an ultra (the 333 in Morocco). Finding myself alone in front of a 7-hour lead gave me incredible amazement. The worst: a storm in the middle of winter on the Kungsleden in Sweden on a solo crossing. I had to face winds, more than 100km/hour without the possibility to stop.
What do mountains inspire you?
Escape and serenity... After a week of work, spending a few hours or several days in the mountains helps me to cope with the sometimes complicated daily life. They also inspire me with beauty and a lot of power.
What is your relationship to the environment and ecology?
This is the basis of my sports practice because I notice every year climatic modifications, especially in polar environments. Ecology concerns me on a daily basis, I bring great importance to the quality of water. 80% of my diet is vegetable.
Another great passion/talent besides sports?
Road cycling, rugby, boats.
