TRAIL RUNNING
facebook instagram strava

After several years in mountain biking and many great racing experiences (BIKE Transalp, Salzkammergut Trophy, Trans Schwarzwald, etc.), Christian discovered running in 2015 and quickly immersed himself in the world of running.

In 2019, he took part in his first two mountain races and quickly realised, due to his mountain bike experience, that these races made him happy, as it is not solely about achieving certain times, but the overall experience.

In the 2022 season, he took part in two mountain marathons in the Harz mountains and the entire Tour de Tirol. Since then, his passion keeps growing and now he would like to take part in various mountain and trail races this year. Ultra-distance is also a goal in the next years.

INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTIAN
3 words that define you as an athlete?
Ambitious, persistent, determined.
3 values that fit you as a person?
Modesty, reliability, composure.
Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?
I am happy to represent Cimalp in German-speaking countries, as I am convinced of both the products and the company values. Cimalp clothing is high quality and functional, just as it should be for trail running.
Your best and worst mountain memories and why?
"My best experience in the mountains so far was crossing the Alps as part of the Transalp mountain bike stage race. With my team partner, we went in 8 stages from Oberammergau in Bavaria via Austria to the finish, Lake Garda in Italy. A great experience! I haven't had any bad experiences in the mountains so far. Only an unexpected thunderstorm was something I can gladly do without.
What do mountains inspire you to do?
As a Northern German with no mountains within a larger radius, I'm always happy when it's time to go to the mountains, whether it's for a holiday or a race. I can't enjoy the panorama enough and can't wait to climb the next peak as quickly as possible and enjoy the freedom and views.
What is your relationship to the environment and ecology?
Everyone should do their bit and ask themselves whether it is always necessary to go higher, further and faster or whether it is not possible to limit oneself a little in everyday life without major impairments. For example, you don't always have to go by plane to faraway countries when the beautiful ones are so close (and can also be reached by public transport).
Another great passion/talent besides sports?
Good coffee!
