The waterproof and breathable jacket

Take on the elements and extreme conditions with our jackets hardshell or Ultrashell waterproof, breathable, windproof and water-repellent. Designed for the mountains with zipped pockets, ventilation zips under the arms for optimal airflow, elastics to tighten at the hood and waist, and velcro to adjust the cuffs. All seams are welded on our rain jackets for a perfect seal. It's the ideal third layer for all types of hikes.

Our jackets men's and women's are designed to protect you from the cold and all weather conditions. Explore our best Ultrashell membranes (equivalent to Gore-Tex membrane) with a 3-layer polyester fabric construction for dry hikes. Guaranteed at 20,000 Schmerber, equivalent to 20,000 mm water column of waterproofing, you'll never have to fear the rain again.

The VINSON, fitted with kevlar reinforcements on the outer fabric, will be extremely resistant for high-mountain mountaineering, ice climbing, etc. The ADVANCED, a lightweight and high-performance jacket will be your best asset in the rain. The CASCADE versatile and waterproof, aimed at hikers who use their mountain jacket for day trips.

The softshell jacket, warm and versatile

You can also choose from waterproof hardshell jackets with kevlar reinforcements for intensive use, as well as a ergonomic and versatile softshell jacket for all your outdoor activities. Both warm with its inner fleece layer and water-repellent thanks to its outer membrane, you'll find versatile jackets that will help you face light to moderate weather conditions. A softshell serves as both a second and third layer.

The warm and insulating jacket

For hiking, mountaineering, trekking, ski touring or snowshoeing, a warm second layer offering good thermal insulation is important. We have created a range of fleece jackets stretchy and stretch to guarantee good freedom of movement, comfortable and lightweight sleeveless fleece gilets and hooded down jackets, sleeveless or synthetic down jackets with water-repellent treatment that will be windproof. All these garments are designed with style and elegance in mind: CimAlp combines the most advanced technology with modern cuts that are a pleasure to wear, alongside a wide choice of colours.

What is the difference between a waterproof jacket and a water-repellent jacket?

A waterproof jacket (also known as hardshell) is designed to be completely waterproof. Waterproof jackets feature sealed seams and an outer fabric coated with a waterproof finish. They are ideal for hiking in rain or wet conditions.

A simple water-repellent jacket is designed to repel water, but is not completely waterproof. They are often made from a breathable fabric, making them more lightweight and comfortable to wear on your adventures in dry or slightly damp conditions. In general, it is preferable to choose a waterproof jacket for hikes in rain or very wet conditions, while a jacket with water-repellent properties may be sufficient on fine days or in slightly damp weather.

What are the pros and cons of hooded models?

Hooded jackets are a popular choice among hikers, as they offer several advantages. First and foremost, the hood can protect the head, neck and face from rain, snow, wind and sun. A well-fitted hood can provide an extra sense of security and comfort by shielding against the elements and helping to retain body heat.

However, there are also a few drawbacks to consider, such as the fact that a well-fitted hood can reduce peripheral vision. The hood adds weight and can make the jacket heavier and bulkier. Ultimately, the choice of jacket depends on personal preference and the weather conditions of the hike. Also consider compatibility with other equipment such as helmets, backpacks, etc.

What are the useful features for a hiking jacket or gilet?

There are several useful technical details for a hiking jacket or gilet. Such as pockets, which are handy for storing personal items or warming your hands. Make sure they are large enough and easily accessible during the hike. Ventilation zips on the side of the jacket are a perfect solution for airing out and regulating body temperature. Drawcords can be a valuable aid for adjusting the fit of the jacket and keeping out wind and snow. An adjustable hood can protect your head and face from wind, rain or snow. A magnetic fastener at the top of the collar also keeps the jacket in place when the zipper is not pulled all the way up.
