If you're passionate about trail and running, find all the gear you need at Cimalp running gear needed to practise your favourite sport, we offer the best headlamps for running here.
How to choose your trail headlamp?
Whether your sport is running or trail, night running demands quality kit. Follow our advice to find the right headlamp for your needs and running practice:
- Find a lightweight and comfortable headlamp: a remote battery pack can be a solution to avoid the weight of a battery at the back of the headband.
- Choose the right battery life for your needs: the runtime required for an ultra is not the same as for an evening training run. If you need to spend a whole night or more outdoors, plan accordingly. Our tip: factor in the outside temperature — the colder it gets, the faster battery life drops. You can also adjust the lighting mode and reduce power to extend runtime.
- Find the power source that suits you: a lithium battery or a battery pack, or even a mixed solution, can be worth considering depending on your use. Carrying spare batteries is sometimes easier and less bulky than a spare battery pack.
- Find the right power output: there's no need to overspec your headlamp's output (measured in lumens). A very high output is only useful for fast sports (skiing, mountain biking, etc.) or very technical terrain — a medium output is plenty for running.
