Alpine Skiing: what clothing to choose?

Alpine Skiing: what clothing to choose?

20 Jan. 2014

Snow-covered glaciers, powder, black ice, sunshine and warmth at the bottom of the slopes... Alpine skiing is a sport practised in all weather conditions. But then, how to choose the ideal outfit to practise this sport without getting too warm or too cold? Here are a few tips to help you choose, along with some products that will delight you on your skiing sessions... Alpine Skiing

The 3 essentials of an alpine skiing garment

Waterproofing

The first essential thing, thewaterproofing. Whether it's falls for beginners or rides on snow-covered lifts, your trousers and your jacket will need to protect you from moisture.

Warmth

The second important point, the protection against the cold. At the top of the slopes, on glaciers, in the morning or at the end of the day, the cold makes itself felt. To keep it from crashing your descents, you can use the layering technique and dress in several layers. And of course, don't forget to go for good warm jumpers — a fleece, for example.

And breathability

Paradoxically, despite the cold, with effort and sunshine you might find yourself getting warm and sweating. And it's when you're wet that you feel cold. So it's essential to equip yourself with breathable garments, so that sweat is efficiently wicked away and you can be sure to stay warm.

CimAlp offers a wide range of alpine skiing clothing for women and men.

My advice for choosing your ski clothing is to go for softshell garments, made up of 3 laminated layers :
  • a fleece microfibre,
  • a waterproof membrane
  • a windproof and breathable outer fabric.
This versatile material makes the garment essential for skiers who want to make the most of the slopes in all weather ! Armed with this advice, you're now fully ready to choose your ski outfit wisely. Jacket, trousers, jumper, t-shirt — don't overlook a thing... All that's left is to plan your trip and hit the slopes!
