How do you choose ski socks?

Ski socks need to do several things:

Retaining warmth
Moisture wicking
A secure fit
Enough thickness
Reinforced areas

As for materials:

Wool, usually found in the sole, combines durability, insulation and a high capacity to absorb moisture.
Acrylic provides thermal protection, but it is somewhat delicate.
Polyamide resists abrasion and is easy to care for. It is often used to reinforce the heel and toe areas.
Polyester provides temperature regulation and resistance to abrasion.
Elastane keeps the sock securely in place on your foot.
