Hiking in Benin: the best season to go
Southern Benin features a sub-equatorial climate with two dry seasons and two rainy seasons: a major dry season from November to April and a shorter one from mid-July to mid-August. Between April and July, prolonged rains sweep southern Benin, followed by a brief rainy spell from September to late October.
The North features a tropical climate with a single rainy season from May to September. The dry season runs from October to April, bringing intense heat that can reach 40°C, cooler nights, and the Harmattan wind, which carries strong gusts and dust.
