What is merino wool, and where does it come from?
Merino wool is a natural fibre that comes from the merino sheep breed, originally from Spain but now farmed across many countries around the world. Merino wool is used in the manufacture of various items, such as socks, beanies, gloves and t-shirts, etc. It is considered one of the finest natural fibres for outdoor activities. It is notably finer and softer than standard wool.
The benefits of the merino t-shirt
Merino wool t-shirts are renowned for promoting air circulation (thermoregulation properties) and not does not retain odours. This wool also provides good moisture management and prevents the garment from becoming saturated with water, even when sweating during exercise. Moreover, even if you are sensitive to wool, no itching is felt.
Thanks to its antibacterial, merino wool does not promote bacterial growth as it does not retain moisture. Your top does not need to be washed as frequently as other cotton or synthetic garments. That makes it the ideal trekking t-shirt! Merino wool is a natural, high-quality material that is stretchy and incomparably soft. The t-shirt fabric is therefore breathable, comfortable and particularly wrinkle-resistant. Wool is not only anti-odour but also has good insulating properties. It is well known for keeping you warm, but in t-shirt form, merino wool also protects from the heat with its thermoregulating effect.

How to wash merino wool clothing?
Follow these simple tips for easy care with no nasty surprises. First, your machine must have a special wool / delicate fabrics programme or 30° maximum. This wash cycle uses very gentle mechanical action, which avoids excessive friction and sudden temperature changes that could damage the fibre. Alternatively, you can hand-wash your wool top. Turn your garments inside out before machine washing.
Do not use fabric softener or bleach. Use a specialist wool detergent or pH-neutral soap. You can spin in the machine at no more than 600 rpm to avoid pilling. Do not use a tumble dryer, as this risks shrinking your garment. Dry your merino wool garment flat and away from direct sunlight to preserve the colours.
