If you're passionate about trail and running, find everything you need at Cimalp running gear required for your favourite sport, we offer here the best head torches for running.
How to choose a trail head torch?
Whether your discipline is running, trail or road racing, night running demands quality gear. Follow our advice to find the right head torch for your needs and your running:
- Find a lightweight, comfortable head torch: a remote battery pack can be a solution to avoid being weighed down by a battery at the back of the headband
- Look for a battery life suited to your activity: the autonomy you need for an ultra will not be the same as for your end-of-day training sessions. If you need to spend a full night or more outdoors, plan accordingly. Our tip: factor in the outside temperature — the colder it is, the faster the battery will drain. You can also adjust the lighting mode and reduce the brightness to extend battery life.
- Find the power source that suits you: lithium battery or battery case, or even a mixed solution depending on your activity — carrying spare batteries is sometimes easier and less bulky than a spare rechargeable battery
- Find the right brightness: there's no need to over-spec the power output (measured in lumens) of your torch — very high power is only useful for fast sports (skiing, mountain biking, etc.) or very technical terrain; a mid-range output is sufficient for running
