Interview with Pierre Rémy

3 words that define you as an athlete?

Persevering. Hard-working. Sore loser (I accept it, but I work even harder)!

3 values that define you as a person?

Family, nature, enjoyment.

Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?

Cimalp is a French eco-responsible brand that fits naturally into my professional life and champions values close to my own.

Your best and worst memory in the mountains — and why?

Both are linked to my main activity — flying. The highlight is undoubtedly the flight that gives me just as much joy every year: soaring above the highest peaks of the Pyrenean range — Vignemale, Balaïtous, the Gavarnie cirque.

The worst, without a doubt, was the day I made an emergency landing in a steep avalanche gully at around 2,500m, with plenty of snow still on the ground, and found myself stuck — feeling like a tourist in city trainers... That tourist still managed to get out of there, reach the ridge, and fly home!

What do the mountains inspire in you?

An enormous playground, and freedom!

What's your relationship with the environment and ecology?

I don't really take personal actions for the environment except using my legs to go flying or skiing. But I actively contribute through my work as a paraglider designer: 100% French and local production, local jobs, and environment-related projects such as traction kites for cargo ships.

Another great passion or talent beyond sport?

All my passions are more or less connected to sport and the mountains.
