Taking in the mountain views from the ski lifts before launching onto the slopes. Carving your own tracks in the snow — whether on piste, free ride or ski touring. All these joys of skiing call for the right clothing to tackle cold, wind and snow. Thanks to our detailed article, you'll be well dressed for skiing whatever the weather, so you can focus on what matters most: making the most of your day on the mountain!

What should I wear for skiing?
As the saying goes: "There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing." A ski outfit must therefore be both warm and breathable, combining thermal comfort with freedom of movement. One important point: check the weather forecast before getting dressed in the morning.
Adopt the three-layer system for your upper body
The 3-layer system starts with a technical base layer or merino wool garment as the first layer, designed to be breathable, followed by an insulating second layer for warmth — such as a fleece or down jacket. Finally, a third waterproof layer to protect you from the elements (wind and snow).
Choosing your ski trousers
For your trousers, bear in mind they need to keep you warm and, above all, dry throughout the day. In direct contact with snow, they must be waterproof and breathable. For extra comfort, we recommend wearing a technical base layer underneath your ski trousers. Thinsulate® technology is commonly used as a lining in ski trousers. It provides excellent insulation and is generally warmer, though with a lower level of breathability. PrimaLoft® technology is a highly effective and water-repellent thermal insulator. Its microfibres deliver warmth and lightness — keeping you dry and warm even in the coldest and most demanding conditions.
Essential accessories for skiing
It is also essential to protect your extremities: a helmet or a beanie depending on your activity, suitable gloves and warm socks — preferably woollen. Don't forget your eyes either: protect them with a ski mask or category 3 or 4 sunglasses. To complete the outfit, especially depending on the weather, a neck gaiter or balaclava is a great option — the perfect accessory for optimal protection of your neck and face. For day trips, taking a backpack is a smart move. A compact, waterproof model that can hold a water bottle, food, sunscreen and more.
