The selection of the most beautiful trails in the world
Le Tor des Géants
The Tor des Géants is probably one of the most beautiful and most difficult ultra-trails in the world. With a course of 330 km and 24,000 m of positive elevation gain across 25 passes above 2,000 m, it is a feast for the senses! At the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park and the Mont Avic Regional Park, the Aosta Valley offers its many lakes, unrivalled viewpoints and an exceptional backdrop for an effort that is equally extraordinary!Hardrock Endurance Run 100
At 160 km and 10,000 m of positive elevation gain, the Hardrock Endurance Run ranks among the most difficult ultra trails in the world. The average altitude of 3,500 m is no small factor. In addition, the terrain is demanding and technical, and the frequently stormy weather plays tricks on participants. The organisers place strong emphasis on survival skills and navigation, which will be essential to performing at a high level. Enough to send a shiver down your spine in anticipation!
The Ultra-trail of Mount Fuji
A mythical summit of Japan, Mount Fuji hosts a demanding ultra trail where you must cover 169 km and 9,478 m of positive elevation gain within a maximum of 46 hours. This superb programme will give you the opportunity to admire breathtaking views and the setting sun over the famous mountain. An ultra trail in the Land of the Rising Sun — tempting, isn't it?
The Kilimanjaro Stage Run
This rather special trail takes place over 8 days with a programme of 260 km around Kilimanjaro. The routes are demanding and weather changes are frequent, ranging from the cold of high altitude to the humid heat of the valleys. Furthermore, the terrain has its own particularities and racing near Kilimanjaro is not something to be taken lightly.
The Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc or UTMB
Naturally, France's flagship trail could not be left off the list. The UTMB covers 168 km and 9,600 m of positive elevation gain to be completed in under 46 hours. The Mont-Blanc circuit is run at high altitude with numerous passages above 2,500 m, and the finish line is set in the beautiful town of Chamonix. Not only is it an extremely tough event, but its magical setting also contributes greatly to its reputation and the enthusiasm it generates. Spots are hard to come by (in terms of selection, not price) but it is well worth it for a performance that will be etched in your memory forever.
