Updated 31 August 2026, following the 2026 edition.
Although the UTMB® is still a relatively young event, its history already boasts an impressive list of prestigious names that have shaped the flagship ultra trail race. Every year, the ultra trail elite gathers in Chamonix on the start list to try to add their name to the event's history.
The 2026 edition was won by American Ben Dhiman in 18h16'29", the first sub-19-hour finish in the event's history, after the start was delayed by two hours due to a storm. In the women's race, French runner Blandine L'Hirondel won in 21h54'49", becoming the second woman in history to have won the UTMB®, CCC® and OCC, after Ruth Croft.

In the men's race, two runners share the record for the most wins, with 4 titles each: Kilian Jornet (2008, 2009, 2011, 2022) and François D'Haene (2012, 2014, 2017, 2021). In the women's race, Britain's Lizzy Hawker dominates the rankings with 5 wins between 2005 and 2012. For details of speed and victory records, see our article on UTMB® records.
