The elite runners and favourites registered for the 2026 UTMB®
The 2026 field is shaping up to be one of the strongest in the race's history. In the men's race, the return of legend Kilian Jornet, four-time winner (2008, 2009, 2011, 2022), changes everything after several seasons devoted to other adventure projects. He will line up alongside defending champion Tom Evans, winner of the 2025 edition in 19h18, who is determined to cement his status as the man to beat.
American Ben Dhiman, runner-up last year following a season marked by victories at Lavaredo and the Grand Raid Ventoux, has established himself as a serious contender for the win. Jim Walmsley, the 2023 champion, remains central to every prediction even though his participation has not yet been officially confirmed. Jon Albon, Mathieu Blanchard (2nd in 2022, whose participation remains uncertain) and young Théo Détienne, the 2025 revelation after leading the race for nearly 100 km before withdrawing through injury, round out one of the most stacked fields ever assembled in Chamonix. French runners Baptiste Chassagne, Pau Capell and Vincent Bouillard could also spring a surprise.
In the women's race, Ruth Croft starts as favourite after her 2025 victory (22h56, ahead of Camille Bruyas and Katharina Hartmuth). The New Zealander, the first woman to have won the OCC®, the CCC® and the UTMB®, reaffirmed her current form by winning the Tarawera by UTMB® for the 4th time in early 2026. The competition remains hard to gauge, however, with Katie Schide — course record holder but still recovering from injury — likely to be absent, as is Camille Bruyas, who finished 2nd last year but has announced her pregnancy.
On the French women's side, Blandine L'hirondel, double trail world champion and a natural podium contender, is going through a difficult spell: injured since Transvulcania, she hasn't raced in several weeks and is focused first and foremost on making it to the start line rather than chasing a result. Magali Mellon, 6th last year, looks to be France's best hope, alongside potential dark horses.

Across all events (UTMB®, CCC®, TDS®, OCC®, MCC®, ETC, YCC, PTL), the 2026 HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc® week brings together around 10,000 runners at the start, with nearly 60% of competitors coming from abroad to race the trails around Mont-White. For the flagship 174 km race alone, a few hundred runners set off from the plateau each year, while the shorter events such as the CCC® and OCC® draw several thousand.
