As part of the UTMB®, the regulations set out a mandatory kit list, common to the UTMB®, CCC® and TDS®. Here are the items, which you can check at any time on the official UTMB® website here.

A mandatory kit
This kit includes:
- a bag to carry the mandatory kit during the race
- a personal cup of at least 15cl
- 2 torches with spare batteries or a spare battery for each torch
- a photo ID
- a mobile phone with coverage in all three countries and the Livetrail app installed
- a whistle
- an elastic adhesive bandage suitable for dressings or strapping
- a survival blanket of at least 1.40m x 2m
- a minimum water supply of 1 litre
- a food supply including, for example, 2 gels + 2 energy bars of 65g each
The clothing list
For the upper body, it is mandatory to have at minimum a hooded jacket with a waterproof and breathable membrane (minimum recommended 20,000 Schmerber and recommended RET below 13). The hood must be integrated or attached to the jacket and the seams must be taped. You must also provide a warm second-layer garment with long sleeves (no cotton) weighing at least 180g (men's, size M), or a combination of a warm long-sleeve base layer (first or second layer, no cotton) weighing at least 110g (men's, size M) and a windproof jacket with durable water repellent (DWR protection). The list continues with a pair of warm, waterproof gloves, a beanie, a cap or bandana or buff.
For the lower body, long running tights or trousers, or a combination of tights and socks covering the full leg, are mandatory. Waterproof overtrousers must also be included. It is also recommended (though not mandatory) to carry spare warm clothing, poles in case of rain or snow, petroleum jelly or anti-chafe cream, a minimum of £20, a reusable bowl, a GPS watch, a knife or scissors, a sewing kit… In addition, specific kits may be required by the organisation depending on weather conditions, such as the heat kit or the extreme cold kit.
