Beyond the mandatory kit required by the rules and the trail outfit you plan to race in, spare clothing is something not to overlook when preparing for the race. You will need to have some available at the aid and assistance points that allow it, as well as at the finish.

Spare clothes for the race
You never know what might happen, even if it is unlikely that you will damage your clothing during the race. A fall can still occur and you might end up with a torn t-shirt or torn shorts. You could also get caught in such a downpour that you need to change. Or simply sweat so much that you want to get into something drier. That is where having crew support can really help. One person is allowed to meet you at certain clearly defined aid and assistance points on each UTMB® race. That person is permitted to carry a 30-litre bag. That volume is more than enough to pack spare clothes and even a spare pair of shoes just in case. That bag can contain the following as spare clothing:
- a trail t-shirt
- underwear
- a trail shorts
- trail trousers
- a trail jacket
- a towel to dry yourself
- several pairs of socks
Spare clothes for the finish
It is also worth having a spare bag for the finish in your drop bag or with your supporters. Once you cross the line, your body cools down quickly — it is important to wash and dry off any sweat and change into warm or at least clean, dry clothes. To find out more:
