As part of your UTMB preparation®, there is one fundamental step: the registration process. It's well worth familiarising yourself with it in advance.

What is the registration procedure
One important point is to understand how UTMB® registration works and the rules that govern it. It's therefore essential to be able to plan other races to accumulate the points required by the qualification system and enter the ballot that will select candidates who meet the minimum points thresholds.
The UTMB® Index and Running Stones required to register for the UTMB®
To enter the UTMB, two conditions have applied since 2022. You must hold a valid UTMB Index in the corresponding category, and possess at least one Running Stone, earned by participating in a race on the UTMB World Series circuit.
The UTMB Index measures your performance across different distances (20K, 50K, 100K, 100M). It is obtained by completing UTMB Index races. Running Stones serve as entry tickets for the lottery.
Understanding the UTMB® regulations
Finally, another key element for completing the UTMB® registration formalities: the regulations. These must of course be read and accepted. You must be aware of your obligations regarding a medical certificate and health monitoring. You must also understand the self-sufficiency requirements imposed during the race and the nature of authorised resupply.
For flagship races such as the UTMB®, the CCC® and the TDS®, personal assistance is permitted only at certain aid stations, within a designated zone. This assistance may only be provided by a single person, who may carry a bag with a maximum volume of 30 liters. The regulations also specify that assistance from a professional team, or any medical or paramedical professional, is strictly prohibited.
Finally, you should familiarise yourself with the regulations regarding the mandatory kit each participant must carry, as well as any specific weather kits that need to be available, just in case.
