From our wide range ofaccessories and kit for trail running, we have developed a range of running socks. This important element for comfort and performance is too often overlooked — check out our advice to find the right pair for you.
How to choose your trail running socks?
To help you navigate all our products and those available on the market, follow our advice to make your choice and head out running with the right pair of socks:
- Find the pair of socks that won't bother you and in which the comfort will be optimal: for this, there are anti-slip socks for optimised hold inside the shoe, as well as five-toe socks to reduce friction between the toes.
- Your pair must have excellent breathability. Good moisture wicking keeps you dry and at a comfortable temperature during your sessions. Our Coolmax® fibres deliver a feeling of freshness and enhanced comfort.
- To prevent blisters, opt for socks with reinforcements at the heel. This will give you added protection.
- Make sure to select socks in materials durable ensuring good durability. Among synthetic fibres, polyester, elastane and nylon are favoured for their maximum resistance and breathability. They can be combined with a natural fibre such as merino wool for its thermoregulating and odour-resistant properties. Cotton should be avoided as it is not very breathable.
- Take a pair of socks suited to your shoes: if they are high-cut, opt for tall socks that will protect your ankle from friction with the shoe upper.
- Match your socks to the distances run and if possible plan for one or more spare pairs for your long ultra-distance events, giving you a comfort and morale boost after the aid station.
Compression for better recovery
Also find in our range our trail socks with localised compression, designed with the 3D Flex technology. This gives them an optimal support and hold, whatever the sport, and a compression performance up to twice that of traditional compression socks. Moreover, their seamless construction perfectly hugs the shape of the calf, holding it firmly without restricting it. Our patented 3D-Flex® technology delivers zonal and durable compression over time for perfect comfort and performance.
Compression sleeves are used in a variety of sports, such as running, trail, cycling and other endurance sports. Here are some reasons why athletes use compression sleeves:
- Improved blood circulation
- Reduction of muscle vibration
- Maintaining muscle warmth
- Reduction of fatigue sensation
What socks for trail running in winter?
Although it is not reserved solely for harsh, cold conditions, the merino wool remains the go-to material in winter. Thanks to its thermoregulating properties, it offers quality thermal comfort during the winter season. Make sure to select a slightly thicker fabric to stay properly protected. That said, don't overlook the breathability of your winter socks in order to maintain good technical performance.
