Ultra-trail runner and adventurer Thierry Corbarieu has taken the start of the IDITAROD Trail 1,000! This long-distance race set in a polar environment, considered the longest and most difficult in the world, takes place in Alaska. Participants have 30 days to travel from Anchorage to Nome on foot, by bike or on skis, covering 1,000 miles — 1,600 km — with no assistance whatsoever… Arctic adventurer Thierry Corbarieu In 2022, Thierry Corbarieu finished 1st at the Iditarod 350 (miles) — 500 km on foot — which earned him his entry ticket to the format three times longer: the IDITAROD 1,000. Today, he is covering on foot the 1,600 km separating the city of Anchorage from Nome in Alaska. An extraordinary adventure that leaves no room for error or imprecision. That is why this race is open to only a handful of athletes with exceptional metabolisms and mental strength. Indeed, only around thirty individuals take part each year.

Widely regarded as the longest and most gruelling polar ultra-marathon in the world, the ITI 1000 features 27 participants on skis, by bike or on foot in its 2023 edition. Thierry Corbarieu, an ultra-endurance athlete with an exceptional metabolism

Does the name Thierry Corbarieu ring a bell? It should. In 2019, this adventurer became the first French person to win the Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra. He covered the 692 km of the Canadian North ultra-trail in 217h non-stop, pulling a 25 kg pulka!
