Don't be afraid to venture further afield
You will find a lot of accommodation at lower prices than in Chamonix if you don't mind venturing a little further out. You can head down towards Sallanches, Combloux or Passy, which can offer great opportunities and remain fairly close by. Beyond Chamonix, many villages are dotted along the valley all the way to Martigny in Switzerland, and also allow you to find well-located accommodation.
Book early
Some properties are booked year after year by regulars, and it's well worth doing the same. The key is of course not to wait and not to leave it too late, or you risk having to stay very far out.
Sharing a large property with a group
It's the smaller properties — studios and one-bedroom flats — that go the fastest. If you're taking part in the event with friends, don't hesitate to opt for larger properties and stay together to bring costs down.
