During your stay in Chamonix planned around the UTMB, you will no doubt be looking for activities and things to see. Here are a few suggestions to make the most of your time between race preparation and the event itself.

The Mer de Glace
It is a must-see, worth visiting at least once, even though this sea of ice has retreated significantly over the years. The setting remains magical, and the excursion is suitable for families thanks to a small train that takes you to the site.
The Aiguille du Midi
Standing at 3,842 metres, it is the highest of the Chamonix needles. On the main summit rises a tower bearing telecommunications antennae, which marks the current highest point. You can reach it via a vertiginous cable car, and the view on a clear day is absolutely breathtaking.
Lac Blanc
It is one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in the Alps, located in the Aiguilles Rouges massif, in the commune of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc at an altitude of 2,352 m. It is accessible via a very easy short hike and makes for a wonderful day out in the heart of nature, to breathe in the fresh air and soak up the scenery.
Le Brévent
From Chamonix, a gondola takes you up to Planpraz at 2,000 m, then a cable car continues to Le Brévent at 2,525 m. From Plan Praz, there are numerous trails for great outings, including Lac Cornu and the Grand Balcon Sud. From the summit of Le Brévent, a path leads to the Aiguillette des Houches via the Bel-Lachat refuge: a beautiful and very accessible hike, perfect for taking in some spectacular viewpoints.
In town
Chamonix is a charming small town offering a wide range of cultural activities, as well as shopping, culinary discoveries and a vibrant nightlife driven by numerous bars and lively venues.
