Who did we design it for?

For hikers learning to navigate with family or at school: an entry-level compass that's easy to read.

What is it for?

Hiking and map-reading practice: place the graduated baseplate on the map to measure distances directly, without a separate ruler.

How accurate is it?

Silva states an accuracy of 1°, with a declination scale inside the capsule to account for the difference between magnetic north and map north.

How does it help with map reading?

Graduated in mm, with 1:25'000 and 1:50'000 scales compatible with most hiking maps. Removable cord.

Ideal for

Hiking

The compass that makes map reading straightforward

A trail junction, a map unfolded, a moment of doubt. Misread bearing, wrong fork. In hiking, navigation leaves no room for guesswork.

This simple compass makes it easy to learn how to take a bearing and read a map. Place the graduated baseplate on the map to read it directly, using scales suited to most hiking maps. Compact enough to carry without a second thought.

Because navigating well starts with having a tool you understand quickly. And can rely on for the long haul.
