In our full range of running jackets for men you'll find our waterproof, breathable and windproof jackets: the perfect companion for your races and training sessions in the rain, snow or wind!
How to choose your waterproof trail jacket?
- Choose a jacket compact and lightweight, ideally a jacket that can be compacted into one of its pockets so the jacket takes up as little space as possible when packed away in your trail backpack
- Go for a jacket with a waterproof membrane and breathable, with all the heat-sealed seams. The waterproofing of the jacket must be at least 10,000 schmerbers, it is a mandatory equipment requirement for the biggest trail and ultra races
- Find a jacket with a adjusted hood that won't get in your way during a race and will stay firmly in place
- Finally, the jacket must offer the possibility of a mechanical ventilation to prevent condensation forming inside during intense effort — this can be done via ventilation zips or with a chest toggle to partially open the jacket.
Follow this advice and find the jacket you need in our selection — head out with confidence, our jackets have been tested and proven by our ambassadors and testers in the greatest trail races in France and around the world.
If despite this advice you still can't make up your mind, here's the pick of our trail running ambassador Florian Olivier (who has used this jacket in numerous ultra races): the trail waterproof jacket STORM 2 H.
Why a waterproof jacket for running?
The waterproof running jacket will quickly become an essential if you want to improve and take part in races — here's why:
- So rain is no longer an excuse to skip training! Essential for progressing in trail.
- To test your kit before the race: whether wearing the jacket on your back or simply loading it into your trail backpack to get used to its weight and bulk
- Because the biggest races you'll target in your career will require a mandatory kit list including the famous waterproof jacket with heat-sealed seams!
How to use my waterproof and windproof jacket?
To make sure the jacket performs at its best, here are our tips for getting the most out of your jacket and fully enjoying its benefits:
- Only wear the jacket when necessary: this advice may seem obvious, but a waterproof jacket is only useful in the rain or in strong winds — otherwise it's better off in your bag, saving you from overheating and sweating inside the jacket
- When possible, ventilate the jacket using the ventilation zips or by opening it slightly to limit condensation build-up inside the jacket
- Test the jacket in training before your races — take advantage of a rainy day to go running in the jacket and discover what it feels like
You're all set to race — looking to complete your kit, consider a warm second layer for trail ! Also think about our selection of running jackets for men and to our trail jackets for women.
