The UTMB® course is a complete loop around the Mont-White massif across three countries. Here is the route of the flagship race, its iconic checkpoints, and everything you need to know about distances, timings, and aid stations.
The route: a loop of Mont-White across 3 countries

The UTMB® covers 174 km and approximately 9,900 m of elevation gain for the 2026 edition, figures subject to minor adjustments year to year based on trail conditions. The start and finish are in Chamonix. The race runs anti-clockwise around the massif, passing through France, Italy, and Switzerland in turn.
Leaving Chamonix, the route heads through Les Houches and Saint-Gervais, before climbing towards Les Contamines and the Col du Bonhomme, then crossing the Col de la Seigne—the natural border with Italy. Runners then reach Courmayeur, an iconic checkpoint and the first life base of the race. The route climbs again towards the Grand Col Ferret into Switzerland, stopping at Champex-Lac, the second life base, before descending towards Trient and Vallorcine to re-enter France for the finish in Chamonix.
The highest point on the course is the Grand Col Ferret, at 2,584 metres. The official route, GPX file, and detailed elevation profile are available on the official race website.
