In our wide hiking accessories and gear range, we have selected bags and panniers designed for cycling to accompany you on your rides.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CYCLING EQUIPMENT?
- For short or occasional use: a backpack is the most practical option. Otherwise, go for handlebar, saddle or frame bags — they're small and practical, letting you carry the essentials.
- For daily use: if you cycle to work regularly, a 15 to 20 litre rack bag is ideal, as it gives you enough room for your gear. Alternatively, or in addition, a handlebar bag and/or a large saddle bag can also be recommended for this purpose.
For longer rides or carrying bulky items, a double pannier on a rear rack is recommended, as it can offer between 20 and 50 litres of storage. A handlebar bag with a shoulder strap makes it easy to carry your essentials (wallet, phone, keys…) once you're off the bike. Think about ease of use when choosing your bike bag — you'll be fastening and unfastening it many times. Simple clasps and closure systems are a must.
- For bike touring: a large storage capacity is essential. A double pannier on the rear rack between 40 and 50 litres is ideal. The same applies to the front — a double pannier will let you store all your gear.
- Ortlieb mounting systems:
Quick-Lock 1: This clever system lets you attach and detach your panniers with one hand. Simply lift the handle, which opens the two hooks at the back of the bag. When you release the handle, the hooks close around the tube. The only requirement is that the tube must measure between 8 and 16 mm in diameter. The Quick-Lock 1 also lets you push the bag closer to or further from the bike frame depending on your space needs.
Quick-Lock 2: This system shares the same features as the first, but adds an anti-theft mechanism. The adjustment is also more reliable, faster and easier.
Quick-Lock 3 / 3.1: These mounting systems are designed for urban use. The bag stays on the bike rack, so your pannier doesn't have a hook that would be uncomfortable to carry when you're on foot.
Rack-Lock: Four hooks, including two flexible ones, make up this system. A simple press is all it takes to fit the Rack-Lock onto a bike rack, which can support up to 10 kg.
