Bastien Fleury

Our athletes

Bastien grew up in Chamonix. He has been skiing since he was a child and still loves the feeling of gliding, the speed, as well as the pleasure of roaming the slopes at his own pace. Alongside this, he has a strong affinity for endurance sports and loves training through running and ski touring.

A mountain rescue officer with the PGHM, he also practices trail, paragliding and mountaineering.

3 words that define you as an athlete?

Playful. Passionate. Rigorous.

3 values that reflect who you are as a person?

Kindness, respect, freedom.

Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?

Because I love playing in the mountains with respect for nature.

Your best and worst memory in the mountains, and why?

Hard to pick a single best memory. In 2013, I did a ski traverse of the Chablais massif with two friends. We spent 15 hours skiing couloirs, climbing summits and watching wildlife. An unforgettable day of sharing. I've also been through many tough moments, but those don't leave bad memories as such. I do have one worst memory in mind, but I doubt it's publishable — it would rather kill the mood...

What do the mountains inspire in you?

A parallel world of exploration, dreams and freedom — and a magnificent playground.

What is your relationship with the environment and ecology?

It's something I feel particularly strongly about, as the landscape I grew up in is transforming rapidly and I'd like to preserve it as much as possible, as I knew it. Such a beautiful environment, so perfectly suited to outdoor pursuits.

Another great passion / talent beyond sport?

Wildlife.
