Clément Desille is passionate about sport in all its forms. A sports physiotherapist and father of two young boys, he lives in a small mountain village on the doorstep of Annecy — the perfect setting to fully embrace his passion. A high-level footballer until the age of 20, then a triathlete for several years, it was in 2018, upon moving to the Alps, that he discovered the world of mountain running. Trail running quickly became a natural fit, and ultra-trail a true quest. For Clément, every race is a journey — but always fuelled by that competitive drive he has carried since childhood.

3 words that define you as an athlete?

Rigour, mental strength, consistency.

Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?

A human-scale French brand with values and ambitions I share.

Your best and worst memory in the mountains — and why?

My worst memory: a ski touring slip that sent me tumbling down a 300m couloir — a huge scare, but fortunately no serious injury. Another bad one: my body completely shutting down 30 km from the finish of the 2022 UTMB while I was inside the top 15... followed by 6 hours of walking to reach the finish in 24h30 (instead of 22h30... with everything I had in the tank).

Best memory: my 5th place at Lavaredo — a truly accomplished race with an absolutely monumental elite field.

What do the mountains inspire in you?

Calm, beauty, the pleasure of effort.

What's your relationship with the environment and ecology?

I've always been used to living in the countryside, peacefully, with a small population, favouring local production as much as possible.

Another great passion or talent beyond sport?

Travel, discovering the world.
