Passionate about nature and sport from an early age, Florian naturally gravitated towards trail running in 2011, at the end of his career as a national-level volleyball player. A discipline that reconnected him with all the values he holds dear: pushing limits, respect for the environment, sharing, camaraderie and the discovery of wide open spaces.

Based for nearly 20 years in the Pilat massif south of Lyon, Florian is a state-qualified Mountain Guide and Team Manager at Cimalp. Sharing knowledge is in his DNA — whether through exploring the natural environment and the mountains, or through sporting fulfilment.

High-performance and enduring, Florian has taken on many legendary races in Cimalp kit: UTMB, TDS, UTCAM, Echappée Belle, Diagonale des Fous. A trail range tested in the harshest conditions — and still climbing summits with him.

Passionate - Resilient - Courageous

3 values that define you as a person?

Passionate - Calm - Patient

Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?

I've been working with Cimalp for over 10 years now. It's almost my second family. Being a core part of this adventure and working daily with a passionate team is incredibly inspiring and motivating. Day after day, step by step, we keep climbing towards the highest summits!

Your best and worst memory in the mountains — and why?

It's hard to single out just one memory, whether good or bad... My best and worst could almost be the same: the Echappée Belle 2016. An exceptional race in every way — brutal and technically demanding, yet set against wild, unspoilt landscapes. I ran it in extreme heat, nearly dropped out halfway, but eventually crossed the finish line in just under 38 hours, finishing 20th and having lost over 6 kilos. A real adventure, all things considered!

What do the mountains inspire in you?

The beauty of the landscapes, the stillness of the heights, and the humility you feel before such vastness. For me, the mountains are a true place to recharge.

What is your relationship with the environment and ecology?

It's almost a calling — I've made it my profession!

Another great passion / talent beyond sport?

Nature observation - Cooking
