A mountain lover from an early age, Pierrick is driven to live life as intensely as possible. The mountains allow him to pursue every related sport they offer. His favourite discipline is one where he can push his limits to the maximum — ice climbing in particular. He is also junior vice world champion in ice climbing and finished 6th at the World Cup in Champagny-en-Vanoise. Living the mountains intensely means expeditions and travel to remote massifs where he can truly escape — for a few days or several weeks at a time. One of his distant adventures earned him recognition at the Piolet d'Or 2021.

Key Achievement

  • Junior vice world champion and 6th at the Champagny World Cup 2015.

  • Denali 2022.

Future projects

  • Spending 10 days in remote, isolated, forgotten corners… of the French Alps, climbing routes from AD to TD grade.

  • Becoming a professional guide.

Interview with Pierrick Fine

3 words that define you as an athlete?

Passionate, Adventure, Commitment.

3 values that define you as a person?

Sharing, altruistic, hyperactive.

Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?

Being part of a French, human brand with values that resonate with me is important.

Your best and worst memory in the mountains, and why?

Summit of Cholatse — we emerge, facing the sunset over Everest, after 5 days of climbing on a mythical face, the hardest mountaineering route I have ever done. Less than 24 hours later, during the descent, we would learn of the death of our friends who had gone to the neighbouring summit.

What do the mountains inspire in you?

A desire for adventure, a challenge.

What is your relationship with the environment and ecology?

It has a huge impact on me — I observe the various changes throughout my practice. I do what I can, but I still struggle to cut back on certain things like flying and eating meat.

Another great passion / talent beyond sport?

DIY.
