Sabine has always loved nature. Highly dynamic, she found from childhood what she was looking for within the Grenoble cross-country skiing club, with frequent outings in nature with her family or local associations. Her long and winding academic journey led her towards trail: Sabine even made it the subject of her thesis. She returned to the Dauphiné region, settling in Lans-en-Vercors, where every day allows her to deepen her knowledge of sports science and training. A specialist trail coach and lecturer in biomechanics, she provides the best possible support to the athletes she trains and to STAPS students.

Interview with Sabine Ehrström

3 words that define you as an athlete?

Nature, passionate, fair-play.

3 values that define you as a person?

The same ones, I think!

Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?

It's really comforting to be surrounded by people who share the same values, and inspiring to see their journeys and achievements!

What's your best and worst memory in the mountains, and why?

It's so hard to choose! My best is probably the first time I went ski touring (Pas de la Ville from Gresse-en-Vercors) — I had never tried such an incredible sport! My worst is probably the time I took a friend on a two-day cross-country skiing trip in December on the high plateaus, and he was really struggling to climb back up the Erges canyon (those who know, know ;-)). Night was falling faster than I would have liked, and I couldn't find the hut — it was buried under the snow. I felt responsible and stupid for not having properly assessed his level... But the moment I finally found the hut might actually be one of my best memories ;-)

What do the mountains inspire in you?

Tranquillity, simplicity, and beauty.

What's your relationship with the environment and ecology?

I feel very strongly about ecology. I do my best every day to live in line with my values, and I also take a keen interest in the political dimension of these issues.

Another great passion / talent outside sport?

I love making people laugh, and I love birds.
