Sabine has always loved nature. Very dynamic, she found from childhood what she was looking for within the Grenoble cross-country skiing club, with plenty of outdoor trips with her family and associations. Her long and winding academic path led her towards trail: Sabine even made it the subject of her thesis. She returned to the Dauphiné region to settle in Lans en Vercors, where every day allows her to learn more about sport science and training. A specialist trail coach and biomechanics lecturer, she supports the athletes she trains and her sports science students as best she can.

Interview with Sabine Ehrström

3 words that define you as an athlete?

Nature-loving, passionate, fair-play.

3 values that define you as a person?

The same ones, I think!

Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?

It's very reassuring to be surrounded by people who share the same values, and inspiring to see their journeys and achievements!

Your best and worst memory in the mountains — and why?

It's too hard to choose! The best is perhaps the first time I went ski touring (Pas de la Ville from Gresse-en-Vercors) — I had never done such an amazing sport! The worst is probably when I took a friend on a two-day cross-country skiing trip in December on the high plateaus and he was really struggling on the way back up through the canyon des Erges (those who know, know ;-)). Night was falling far too quickly for my liking and I couldn't find the hut, which was buried under snow — I felt responsible and foolish for not having properly assessed his level... But then again, the moment I finally found the hut was perhaps one of the best ;-)

What do the mountains inspire in you?

Calm, rusticity and beauty.

What is your relationship with the environment and ecology?

I care deeply about ecology — I do my best every day to live in line with my values, and I also take an interest in the political dimension of these issues.

Another great passion / talent beyond sport?

I love laughing and making people laugh, and birds.
