Is it really waterproof?

It is waterproof to 10'000 mm Schmerber, keeping out snow and showers. The seams are not taped, so water may seep through in rain lasting more than 30 minutes.

Which activities is it designed for?

For winter hiking, snowshoeing, travel in cold weather and city wear. For alpine skiing, trousers such as SNOW PANT are better suited: they have an internal gaiter and an adjustable waistband.

Which size should I choose?

It fits true to size: choose your usual size. It comes without a belt, but the belt loops let you add one.

What height is the short version designed for?

The short version has legs 6 cm shorter and is designed for men under 172 cm tall. If you're taller, choose the standard version.

Can the leg hems be tightened?

Yes. A locking elastic drawcord tightens the leg hem around your boot. Shortening the leg yourself would remove this adjustment; the short version avoids the need for hemming.

How should I care for them?

Machine wash at 30 °C with detergent for technical clothing. Use a gentle spin cycle (400 rpm maximum) and no fabric softener. To reactivate the water repellency, use a waterproofing spray or tumble dry on a low heat setting.

Wonderful! These pants are perfect for high-altitude adventures! I bought them for the Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayas, and they kept me warm without any problems on the coldest days and at high altitudes (I didn't feel any cold down to -17° Celsius). You really don't need any additional long underwear. I would definitely buy them again.

Comfortable and high-quality pants. Tested on a hike, light to moderate effort for 3 hours, temperature of 5°C, humid but not rainy. They kept me very warm, and the waterproofing is amazing considering the fabric's flexibility. I even tried putting them directly under the tap to check... They would probably be too warm for more strenuous activity, but they aren't designed for that. The short legs are perfect for me. I was hesitating between these and the Hoggar pants. This was a test order, and based on the descriptions and reviews, I opted for the smallest size. I'm glad I did because even the smallest size (S) is still a bit big: the waistband is just right and doesn't pinch, but the pants are a little wide at the lower hips and upper thighs. Half a size smaller would have been perfect for my particular build (1.68m, 60kg, waist: 76cm, hips: 92cm, short legs...). I wear it with a belt to maintain the fit in all circumstances. I will probably buy other products from Cimalp (quality), but not trousers because even the smallest size doesn't fit my body perfectly.

Personally, I use these trousers for work in the winter, both for outdoor tasks and for working in unheated buildings. I maintain a holiday center with a capacity of 250 beds spread across 6 buildings and 7 hectares. They get a real workout and last me about 3 years. To find the same quality, I'd have to go for high-end hunting trousers, which isn't really my thing :) Thank you for your warm and comfortable products, true companions for my tough jobs :)
