UTMB® — race profiles for every level
Chamonix is the trail running capital of the world! Every year at the end of August, enthusiasts and world-class elites gather at the foot of the legendary Mont White for one shared passion: mountain running. And the flagship race, the UTMB®, with its 174km and 9,900m of elevation gain, is the dream of every trail runner.
There are 7 other race profiles available throughout the week, catering to all types of runners. The most seasoned athletes will find their match in the MCC®, a maratrail format, or the PTL®, run in teams of 3 over 300km. Younger runners won't miss out either, with the YCC and the mini UTMB for children. Everyone can enjoy the event and the great outdoors!

Nailing your UTMB with the right gear!
The UTMB®, a legendary mountain race, is demanding with its rugged terrain and high-altitude alpine sections. That's why, beyond your physical fitness on race day, your trail kit and the gear you carry will play a crucial role in your success.
The race organisers provide a mandatory equipment list, which may vary depending on weather conditions. It includes "heatwave", "extreme cold" and "bad weather" kits. To help you find your way through it, CIMALP has put together its selection of trail clothing and accessories.
Waterproof and breathable clothing
First and foremost, protecting yourself from rain and wind is essential! Waterproof clothing — jacket and trousers — insulates you and preserves your body heat.
The requirements set by the race regulations are:
- Fabric with waterproof membrane
- Minimum waterproofing of 10,000mm
- RET below 13 (or minimum 10,000g/m²/24h)

Lightweight, stretch race kit
Even if you only reach for waterproof clothing in certain conditions, your base race kit is equally fundamental.
Shorts or running tights?

Accessories — essentials to keep you moving forward!
In addition to a good pair of socks, a head torch and other accessories, a trail running backpack is of course essential. You'll need to carry water and food supplies, a phone, a survival blanket, waterproof gloves, a beanie, and a cap or bandana. Plenty to fill your pack!
